Assoc Prof Dwaraka Ranganathan

Consultant Nephrologist

Dr Ranganathan completed his training in Nephrology in 1984 that included management of kidney problems in children. He has more than forty years of comprehensive and longitudinal clinical experience in the care of kidney patients. He joined as a consultant nephrologist at Metro North Hospital and Health Service (MNHHS), Brisbane in October 2003 and was promoted as an Eminent specialist in January 2010. He looks after patients with kidney disorders. 

 

He is the clinical lead of Renal Rheumatology and Renal Immunology clinic. He started these clinics, first of its kind in Australia, in collaboration with the rheumatologist in 2009 and the immunologist in 2017 with an aim to provide world class service to patients with autoimmune kidney disorders. He was the portfolio head of home therapies program of Kidney Health Services (KHS) of MNHHS till April 2020. He also functioned as portfolio head of the kidney transplant services of KHS, MNHHS and for a year he was visiting Transplant Services at Princess Alexandra Hospital as an Honorary Senior Medical officer.

 

He has passion in teaching and he is an associate professor at Griffith School of Medicine and Dentistry. He cherishes research. He co-leads clinical trials and he was/is a principal investigator of many investigators initiated and industry sponsored clinical trials. He has authored/coauthored more than 200 peer reviewed publications/abstract presentations in the conferences.
