Gastroenterologist
Dr Chun How Gan obtained his medical degree from the University of Melbourne in 2007. He completed his Basic Physician Training at the St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne, and started Advanced Training in Gastroenterology in Queensland in 2015. Dr Gan completed a colonoscopy fellowship at the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital in 2018. He then went on to complete a second fellowship in advanced luminal endoscopy at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2019. While training in Gastroenterology, Dr Gan was awarded a PhD degree in Lynch syndrome under the supervision of Professor Finlay Macrae at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (University of Melbourne).
Dr Gan has a combined public and private practice at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside and Sunnybank Private Hospital. He is the clinical lead in Familial Bowel Cancer Clinic at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, providing care to patients with hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes.
Dr Gan is passionate about luminal gastroenterology, in particular the resection of large complex colorectal polyps and difficult colonoscopy. His other area of interests includes bowel cancer screening, irritable bowel syndrome, liver disease and inflammatory bowel disease.
