Dr Maureen (Moo Ling) Tan

Dr Maureen Tan specialises in the health and development of babies, children and teenagers. She consults in general paediatrics, developmental and behavioural conditions, and neonatal follow-up.

Dr Tan prides herself on working as a team with families and young people. She demonstrates passion and empathy, recognising the challenges in parenting. She has vast experience in helping families from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and takes an evidence-based approach to diagnosis, treatment and management in order to achieve great outcomes.

Dr Tan holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) which she completed in Malaysia at the International Medical University in 2005. She also holds a Fellowship in General Paediatrics with The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).

She had four years of clinical experience as a junior resident in various specialties including adult medicine and surgery. During this time, she discovered her passion for paediatrics. Dr Tan commenced her training in Melbourne in various areas of paediatrics at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Monash Children’s Hospital, Sunshine Hospital and Mercy Women’s Hospital. After relocating to Queensland, she continued training at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, Logan Hospital and Mater Mother’s Hospital. She has also served on the Sunshine Coast and in Gympie as a senior registrar.

As a senior trainee, Dr Tan was involved in vocational training and research education for Queensland paediatric trainees. She also holds the title of Associate Lecturer with the University of Queensland and is a personal advisor for medical students.

Dr Tan is also a member of the Neurodevelopmental and Behavioural Paediatric Society of Australasian (NBPSA). Apart from English, she also converses fluently in Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia.

She is also a mum to two beautiful daughters, aged six and three. In her spare time, she loves baking and cake decorating, and enjoys outdoor adventures, table tennis and running.
